Born in the city of Kirov, Russia, Igor Efimov studied the clarinet at the Special Music School and Higher Music School of Kirov. In 2000 he graduated from Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow (Class of Prof. Butirsky) as "Orchestra Soloist", "Chamber Music Soloist", "Clarinet Teacher" and "Conductor for Wind Instrument Orchestra" (class of Pr. Sergeev).
In 2002 he was awarded with the title "Doctor in Clarinet" from Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow.
He has participated as a soloist in the Zeuvka Wind Orchestra, in the Kirov Symphony Orchestra, the Gnesin Symphony Orchestra, the Novaya Oper Theatre Orchestra, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Logos Chamber Orchestra of Moscow, with conductors such as E. Kolobov, G. Rogdetsvensky.
Currently he performs as a member of Kalamaria Symphony Orchestra, Lucey Music Ensemble, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and Thessaloniki Philharmonic Orchestra.
Igor Efimov's performances have been broadcasted by State TV channels in Greece (ERT3, 4E) and Russia (KYROV TV).
He has won numberous national and international clarinet competitions (Prague, Moscow, Votkinsk, Kirov, Stavropol, Vladimir, Arhangelsk).
Igor Efimov teaches clarinet at the Conservatoire of Northern Greece and the New Conservatoire of Thessaloniki.
