Kostas Kampantais

Konstantinos Kampantais was born in Thessaloniki and took his first violin lesson at the age of 6. He studied the Violin at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, where he graduated in 2001. He received outstanding grades and got awarded for his excellent performance. He continued his violin studies at the Folkwang Hochschule (Prof. N. Jashvili's class) in Essen, Germany, and graduated in 2006. In 2008 he graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the field of Musicology.

Several awards that he has obtained throughout his music career include: 3d prize at the national competition held by the Greek Ministry of Education, 2nd prize at the competition held by the Union of Conservatories' Alumnis and finally he was granted a scholarship at the Austrian-Greek League.

He participated in various national and international music festivals such as the “IMS Regional Association for the study of music on the Balkans” (2011), the “Meeting of the Universities Orchestras of the Mediterranean” in Tunis (2002), the 9th Biennale of Young Artists in Sarajevo (2001), the “Meeting of the Mediterranean Conservatories” in Marseille (2000), the music tour of the Kalamaria Symphony Orchestra in Slovakia (2000) and many more. 

On more than one occasion, he has played as a member of the Athens Symphony Orchestra (partaking at a tour in China 2008), the Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Symphony Orchestra of Kalamaria, the Symphony Orchestra of Volos and the Symphony Orchestra of Rhodes.

Currently he is teaching in various music schools. Other cultural activities in which he has been involved in include collaborating with the “Die Wolke” group of contemporary dance – theater and finally, his contribution of music recordings for theater and cinema music (Effie Ratsou – Twins, Polytropon 2012).
