Panagio Karamouzi

Panagio Karamouzi was born in Thessaloniki, Greece where she started playing the piano at the age of five under the instruction of Ms. Maria Doulgeri.

She has studied percussion with Mr. Christopher Baka and Mr.Vladimir Afanasiev at Neo odeio Of Thesaloniki, and with Mr. Haralabos Tocanidis and Mr. Dimitris Vittis at the National Conservatory of Thessaloniki, where she graduated with a Diploma in Percussion Instruments in 2006. She continued her studies at the Cologne University of Music in Germany, with professors Nicholas Bardach, Werner Otten and Carlos Tarcha, from where she obtained a Diploma in Music Studies. Panagio completed her studies at Zurich University of the Arts with professor Rainer Seegers, with a Masters in Music Performance, specializing in timpani.

Currently, she is undertaking a PhD in Percussion Instruments and Performative Arts in the University of Makedonia. She also teaches percussion in various Greek music schools.

Panagio has collaborated with numerous orchestras including the Philharmonic Orchestra of Trier Germany, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Panagio was the principal timpanist of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in China from 2010 to 2014 under the Artistic direction of Maestro Muhai Tang.
